Today I am going to show you how to take Bare Metal Recovery & System State Backup with Microsoft Data Protection Manager.

So let’s get started I am going to protect my sql.mytricks.in with the new Bare Metal Recovery feature on DPM 2010 & then going to recover it in my next article.

Follow below steps to back up your Server,

1.       Open DPM 2010 Administrative Console,

Now I am going to create new protection group called BMR,

 Select Server tab, as we are going to backup server,

 Now select System State & Bare Metal recovery & drives which you want to backup.

 Give the name for your protection group,

 Specify your short term goal. I am using default.

 Click Next

 I am using default option here,

 Click yes to continue,

Now we have created protection group with Bare Metal & System state backup for our server. In next article I am going to show how to recover your your server using bare metal recovery option.. So stay tune!!
