Bharti Airtel, the country's top mobile phone company by revenues and customers, has dialed China's ZTE to buy fourth generation networks (4G).
Bharti Airtel has asked the Chinese gearmaker to rollout this new network, which can provide data speeds that are at least four times faster than third generation (3G) in Kolkata first, and may later extend the contract to the other regions and circles where it holds wireless broadband airwaves, an executive with direct knowledge of the development told ET.

Amazon's Tablet Kindle?

Amazon on Friday invited media to a press conference to be held in New York on Wednesday, declining to provide further details. But analysts were confident that the world’s largest Internet retailer will introduce its long-awaited tablet computer this year to expand in mobile commerce and sell more digital goods and services.

ZTE MF 190 ZTE to Launch Dongle that Connects Users within 15 Seconds

The MF 190 data card can establish an internet connection within 15 seconds without the need to install software or manage the connection. The MF 190 is simply inserted into a USB port and, using ZTE’s innovative CWID technology, quickly establishes an internet connection without using any of the mobile device’s hardware or software resources, providing users with fast and simple mobile broadband access.
CWID stands for CPC (continuous packet connectivity), Web UI (user interface) and driver-free technology, and has been developed by ZTE for data cards accessing high speed HSPA+ mobile networks.

CPC is a capability of HSPA+ networks which reduce uplink and downlink channel overheads, enhancing network efficiency and avoiding network congestion. The network capacity increases made possible by CPC can double both the number of online users and the network’s VOIP user capacity.

In addition, with the MF 190’s Web UI, users can manage the device as well as online services such as messaging and contact lists. Operators can customise the UI to enable online upgrading and promotions.

Another highlight of the data card is the driver-free technology developed by ZTE. It automatically works with all major operating systems, avoiding the operating system compatibility problems of typical data card connection management software programmes.

This new generation CWID data card from ZTE solves the problems caused by different operating systems and operating system versions, and significantly simplifies and speeds up the customization required by operators, further reducing their operating costs and enhancing online service capabilities, in addition to improving the end user’s experience.

CWID technology will be applied in a number of ZTE mobile broadband products including the 14M, 21M, 42M and LTE data cards, and the MF60 and MF80 3G mobile hotspot products. Satisfying the needs of thin terminals and cloud computing of mobile internet, the new generation MF 190 CWID data card will further advance the global development of the mobile broadband market.
