[Guide] VMware vSphere 5 (ESXi 5) Recovery Mode
Have you seen <SHIFT+R: Recovery Mode> while booting VMware vSphere 5? Now we can use VMware Recovery mode to Rollback to previous version of VMware hypervisor. As you can see in below image there are two versions of hypervisor installed. So If I can select to replace the current default "hypervisor HYPERVISOR2: 5.0.0-0.469512" to "hypervisor HYPERVISOR1: 5.0.0-.469512" then system will boot on the previous build "hypervisor HYPERVISOR1: 5.0.0-.469512".
To Enter Recovery mode:- Press "Shift R" while booting VSphere 5 host,
You can see the installed VMware vSphere hypervisor versions, If you want to rollback to previous version press "Y"
If you have no alternate Hypervisor installed on you host then you will see below message as shown. i.e. "NO Alternate hypervisor to roll back to"
Still I have not found any documentation for VMware recovery mode, so please avoid it from using on Production environment.
