Now there is a guranteed solution to install Windows 8 on VMware ESXi 5.0 and its to patch ESXi 5.0 to ESXi 5.0 update 1. There are two ways to upgrade/patch VMware ESXi 5.0 to ESXi 5.0 update 1. Check below guides which I covered step by step,

2. Now create new Virtual machine for Windows 8, now Windows 8 will be listed in the supported Guest OS.


3. Mount the Windows 8 ISO image & turn on the Virtual machine.

So lets get started,

  1.  To upgrade Vmware vSphere server 5.0 to vSphere 5.0 update 1, download vSphere update 1 patch from this direct Link

  2. Enable SSH for remote support on the ESXi Host

  3. Make sure ESXi host is in maintenance mode before you start upgrade process

  4. Transfer the  downloaded update file in first step to the host using FileZilla or Veeam Fast SCP to any Datastore.

  5. now you are ready to upgrade your ESXi server to ESXi 5 update 1


from command line interface of ESXi server run below command to start the patching of the server,
esxcli software vib install -d /vmfs/volumes/[DATASTORE]/[FILE-NAME-OF-THE-PATCH].zip



You see result like below once you run the above command,




Reboot ESXi server to apply the pacthes.

After you will see the new updated version of the VMware ESXi server.

Windows 8 Coming up with Four versions

Microsoft will coming up with the Four version when it will be released in October 2012.

Microsoft is going to lauch four version aka Windows 8, Windows 8 Pro, Windows 8 Enterprise, and Windows 8 RT.

Windows 8 is for Desktops/Laptops & Tablets powered by x86 processors for bot 32 bit & 64 bit. Windows 8 will include updated Windows explorer, task manager, multi-monitor support and ability to switch languages on the fly, which was previously available only in Enterprise and Ultimate editions of Windows 7.

Windows 8 Pro is mainly designed for technical professionals. It includes all the features in Windows 8 plus features for encryption, virtualization, PC management and domain connectivity.


Windows 8 Enterprise, includes all the features of Windows 8 Pro plus additional features for IT organizations that enable PC management and deployment, advanced security, virtualization, new mobility scenarios.

Windows 8 RT will only be available as a preinstalled OS on tablets and other mobile devices. "Windows RT will include touch-optimized desktop versions of the new Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote.

In terms of upgrades, users of Windows 7 Starter, Home Basic, and Home Premium will be eligible to upgrade to Windows 8 or Windows 8 Pro. Windows 7 Professional and Ultimate users will only be eligible to upgrade to Windows 8 Pro.
By comparison, Windows 7 was available in six editions, Starter, Home Basic, Home Premium, Professional, Ultimate, and Enterprise.

Microsoft has officially announced that the next version of Windows Server will be called as Windows Server 2012. The new “cloud-optimized OS” is due out later this year.  Microsoft has announcement in the Microsoft Management Summit.

Windows Server 2012 new features,

So lets get started,

Navigate to Update Manager->Patch Repository-> Click on Import Patch as shown below.


Here we are going to import downloaded VMware vsphere 5.0 U1 patch. Click on Browse & provide patch of the patch & click next.




In next windows you will get a securiy warning for SSL certificate, click on Install this certificate & click on ignore.


Now Patch importing process will start as shown below..


Now we can see the all uploaded patches with patch release date.. Now click on Finish.


Now we need to create Baseline for our patches. Navigate to update Manager->Baseline and groups-> & click on Create


Assign name to Baseline and select the radio button as a host patch


In next step select "Fixed Baseline"


Now select all patches and click on small arrow to add patches to the new baseline as shown in below screenshot




Click on finish to create baseline.


Now your new baseline is ready..


Now attach the created baseline with the ESX server as shown below.


Select the baseline which we created & click Attach.


Now the baseline has been attached to our ESX. Now  remediate our ESX server. Just click on the Remediate button to start the remediate process. Before Remidiate process shutdown all VM's or move all VM's to another ESXi server.

How to Run OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion on Windows 7


1. Download Moutain Lion OS X 10.8 VMware Image

2. Extract downloaded VMware image using WinRar or 7Zip.

3. Go to VMware unlocker folder &  unlock your Virtulization software. In my case its VMware workstation.





4. Now open Mac OS X  Lion.vmx file in VMware workstation .


5.  Now modify Memory & CPU configuration as shown below. I am using 4GB of Ram.








  

Lenovo unveils IdeaTab S2019 Android 4 tablet on the way

Lenovo unveiled its upcoming S2019 IdeaTab tablet through video on his Youtube channel. The company has not revealed the launch date or price of the tablet.

IdeaTab S2019 is coming with latest Android 4.0 operating system, and has 9.7 inch IPS. It will also have four speakers SRS-ready output.


The IPS panel will come with 1024 x 768 resolution, while under the hood we still don’t know much about the device. Early rumors pointed towards either a quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor or a 1.5 GHz Krait chipset, but the guys at SlashGear are saying that the tablet will in fact be powered by a TI OMAP proc.
Other known features include a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, a microUSB port, microHDMI, and a microSD card slot. The device will also feature four SRS Trumedia speakers on the back and a battery that should last for ten hours between charges, according to manufacturer claims (I would expect an hour or two less in day-to-day use, though).

Here we will learn how to block USB drive use in a network via Windows Server 8 Group policy.

I am going to block USB,Floppy Drives & CD-ROM at machine level. so let's get started,

1. Open Group Policy Management from Administrative tools as shown below,


2.  Navigate to Default Domain Policy-Edit



3. Navigate to Computer Configuration-> Administrative template Policy->System->Removable Storage Access


In my case I am going to apply USB drive block policy to the Computers. If you want you can configure it for USER's & the same process applies..



4.  Here are the all devices such floppy drive,USB drive,CD-ROM & tape drives and even custom devices which you can configure.



5. Here I have "Denied Read Access' to Removable Disks.



6. After Disabling USB Drives,Floppy Disk & CD-Rom it looks like below. Now run gpupdate /force on all machines.
