Microsoft Windows 8 Coming In October 2012

Microsoft Corp. is expected to wrap up development of its new Windows 8 platform this summer and will put the operating system on sale in October, Bloomberg reported Tuesday.

The technology giant had first demonstrated its new operating system in June last year at the D: All Things Digital conference. The operating system is "touch first," which means it responds to finger swipes like other tablets, but will also respond to keyboards and mouses if they are attached. The home screen consists of various blocks of applications and looks like the Windows Phone interface.

Although Microsoft has not yet officially disclosed when the releasing of the new operating system will be but the company has hinted that it will be this year. Windows 7 was released three years ago which makes it likely that the new system will come out this year.
