Installing VMware vSphere 5 on Virtualbox 4.1
Today I am going to install VMware vSphere 5.0 on VirtualBox 4.1. Below steps also applicable for older version of VMware ESXi 4 & 4.1. VirtualBox is a powerful x86 and AMD64/Intel64 virtualization product for enterprise as well as home use. Not only is VirtualBox an extremely feature rich, high performance product for enterprise customers, it is also the only professional solution that is freely available as Open Source Software under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL) version 2.
Presently, VirtualBox runs on Windows, Linux, Macintosh, and Solaris hosts and supports a large number of guest operating systems including but not limited to Windows (NT 4.0, 2000, XP, Server 2003, Vista, Windows 7), DOS/Windows 3.x, Linux (2.4 and 2.6), Solaris and OpenSolaris, OS/2, and OpenBSD.
How to Install VMware vSphere 5.0 on VMware Workstation 7.1 as a VM
So let get started, Currently I have installed VirtualBox 4.1 on my windows 7 64 bit machine. Now I am going to install VMware vSphere ESXi 5 on top of it.
Click on new to create new virtual machine.
Click next to Continue,
Assign name to your virtual machine. In operating system tab select Linux & version as Redhat 64bit.
Allocate 2GB of Ram for VMware vSphere 5 Virtual Machine.
Click on "Create New Hard Disk" option & click next.
Now select "VMDK (virtual machine disk)" option & click next.
Select fixed size & click next.
Here I am using 20GB of Disk space for my vSphere 5 virtual machine.
Click on create to create Virtual machine.
It will take some time depending upon your virtual machine disk space.
For VMware vSphere 5.0 we need to assign TWO processors. so assign it otherwise you will get "CPU Core" error during setup.
Here I am using Bridge Adapter network option.
Now give path of your VMware vSphere 5 ISO image.
Enter to continue setup.
Press Enter to continue.
Press F11 to accept VMware License agreement.
Select "storage device" & hit enter.
Select your keyboard layout.
Enter root password.
Press "F11" to start the installation process.
Press Enter to reboot.
Now your VMware vSphere server is up & running under VirtualBox 4.1.
Now open VMware vSPhere Client to connect to the VMware vSphere server 5.0. Enter Login credentials & click Enter.
Tick Install certificate option & click on "ignore" tab.

Click on new to create new virtual machine.
Now go to your newly created virtual machine settings tab.
Now your VM is ready, so click "Start" to turn it ON.
