Installing VMware Workstation 8 on Windows 8 workaround by JJoel42. Easy way to get Workstation 8 to run on Windows 8 is, after installing Workstation 8 on Windows 8 you can do any one of the following:
1. Add your user to the to __vmware__ group2. Run Workstation 8 in compatibility mode for Windows XP SP3
3. Run Workstation 8 as an administrator
VMware guys investigating the root cause of this issue and will enable our customers to run Workstation 8 on Windows 8 without these work arounds as soon as possible!
