How to create a User Locked Folder in Windows 7


Here I am going to show you how to secure your personal folder from other user’s from the same machine.  So, that the user’s personal documents that can only be opened by the user and all other users of the Windows7 on the same PC cannot access it.
I will show you, how to create a folder that can only be accessed the original user, no other user can access it.
I have created a folder named “Santosh” in c:\santosh




Right-click on the folder “Santosh”, select Properties and open the “Security” tab. Now, select User & click on the Edit tab as shown below




Select the Group or User Names and check the check box "Permission for Authenticated Users" how much you will give access to the  particular user or group.


You can allow only reading, full control etc... permissions as shown above.  After restart or log off when an unauthorized user tries to open the folder, user will get below error message,
